Experience the exciting sights, smells and sounds of steam--for the first time on the Walkersville Southern Railroad
for three weekends beginning
June 23rd!
Ride behind a real 80-year-old,
coal-fired steam locomotive, the restored Flagg Coal Co. #75, "Hank the Tank".
Be sure to have your camera ready for some memorable photos. We'll have two open flat cars behind the steamer, plus two
enclosed cars and the caboose. Departures at 10 AM, 1 PM and 4 PM each day. Be sure to note the different than normal
departure times; we'll need extra time between each trip to add coal and water to the locomotive. Also note that you may not
want to wear your Sunday best because the steam locomotive can shower a little coal dust and water at times.
Cost is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $12 for children 1 - 12. Babies under one year
are free.
We are also offering a Railfan Special on Saturday evening, June 23rd, from 6 to 8 PM. Ride behind the locomotive, plus
travel north on newly-renovated track north of Walkersville towards Woodsboro, and take advantage of two separate photo
run-by opportunities where you can get off the train and get some photos or videos as the train travels slowly past you. Price
for the Railfan Special is $20 per ticket.
